Edinburgh Marathon and Relay

In 2006, the Edinburgh Marathon and Relay Marathon took place on Sunday 11th June. Over 100,000 spectators gathered to watch the run which started on Princes Street in the shadow of the Historic Castle. The marathon was a great success despite the hot temperatures.

We would like to wish all our runners the best of luck for the Edinburgh Marathon 2007 which takes place on Sunday 27th May.

Being part of the St Columba’s Team at the Edinburgh Marathon is more than just taking part, it is a huge individual achievement and will help us considerably with the work we do caring for our patients and their families.

As part of our service to all our runners we offer many benefits including the following:

  • Free running vest
  • Free marathon information events
  • Regular training get-togethers
  • Free Marathon reception for you and your supporters after the race
  • Advice and support from our Team Manager, Alistair Currie

The sense of pride, camaraderie, achievement and exhilaration is immense from taking part. It will not be easy but what you get from being part of Scotland’s biggest annual marathon is worth all the effort that you put in.

Everyone is a winner, every single person who takes part, the crowds who line the route, and last but definitely not least the people who benefit from the funds that you have raised.

If you are interested in running in 2008 please send us an e-mail to

Please do not hesitate to contact us on 0131 551 7707 if you have any questions about the marathon or about the Hospice.
